Well, I really ought to be doing school work, but decided instead to find this bloody thing. Went to a wake tonight, which was sad -- it was an old (old, old, old) friend's father who passed after a long illness. The guy was great -- as great a person as you could find. There were tons of people, the line supposedly went around the block which was a fitting testament to such a great person.
It's strange though, this was a friend from grammar school who I hadn't talked to since high school (and even in high school we didn't talk all that much), but when I found about her father's passing, I just wanted to be there for the family. Maybe that's not all that strange after all...
It made me think though about how temporary everything is... Friends grow and change. People age and die. I think that’s a powerful thing to notice every once in a while. Perspective is a transient thing, what means something one day may not matter much on the next day -- I think maybe there is a balance there that we need to be cognizant of -- at least I need to be more aware of.
As a bonus (while not taking away from the sad), I met up with my good friend Amo and we went out to have a coffee -- of course, we ended up having tea, but it was great to catch up.

farewell to a place
So good bye lake
Good bye fishes
Goodbye daddy long legs
Goodbye trees bending in the breeze
Goodbye RC boats
Goodbye wavers
Goodbye Amish bench
Goodbye Digger
Goodbye little cemetery
Goodbye bears
Goodbye and goodnight
I’ll see you when I can
Like in some afterlife
All tan in the water
Good bye fishes
Goodbye daddy long legs
Goodbye trees bending in the breeze
Goodbye RC boats
Goodbye wavers
Goodbye Amish bench
Goodbye Digger
Goodbye little cemetery
Goodbye bears
Goodbye and goodnight
I’ll see you when I can

Toe Beards
Shaved my toe beards today... don't really know why they're there, but I don't like them.
Also, sis had her surgery and is f-i-n-e-fine! Well, except for the excruciating pain, but she’s hooked up to the morphine pump so she’ll be okay tonight as long as she uses it.
If it were me, I’d never stop pressing the damn button. In fact, upon entering her room, I promptly asked if I could split the bag open and have a drink, but was immediately denied. Sad face… :(

daily agenda
Haircut @ 11:00
lunch (?) w/ the sis
an amazing ability we have is not ever knowing what's going on until it's actually going on and we're in the thick of it. Drives my mother nuts which is always a bonus.
Overheard an interesting conversation at work yesterday, a group of people we’re simultaneously blocking the refrigerator and talking about bowel movements. One guy said that he’d been going so much less - my red alert grammar bells were ringing, and I successfully fought the urge to correct him; partly because my own grammar skills aren’t the best and I wasn’t 100% sure that he was incorrect. Still, it was an interesting conversation to bare witness to if only for the fact that my own bowel movements have decreased in frequency too…

thoughts on the day that was
Hot heat sucking through the walls; meeting exposed, swamp back-marking again this insufferable summer.
An animal smeared in the streets, bubblegum pink and gray fur-insides on the outside.
The uncertain future displayed in a flash of annoyance-too many questions and not enough patience.
Melons in a paper cup, cut with skill; good but could’ve been better.
